Jazz it Up, While Staying Relaxed!

While I was away in lovely Miami, I fell back in love with a top that I wasn't sure I would look fabulous in. Enter the halter! I believe the halter is a great piece that is flattering for a variety of body types. I am a slim girl that isn't exactly the bustiest one out there. Halters come in so many different styles that it's hard to decide which one is the best one. Enter my favorite shop, Pitaya. First, this is the one store from back home in Indiana that I miss (thankfully you can become a fan and visit their site online!). If you're from the area or went to the one that was in Bloomington, Indiana at Indiana University, you knew how exciting it was to see new merchandise every Tues morning. ANYWAY, Pitaya is reasonably priced (this top is $24!) and always has something that will keep you looking on the cusp of fashion. Generally each pieces comes in about 12 colors, although this was not the case for this top.

Regardless of whether you purchase this super cute top here or find another one at such stores as Bebe (which tend to be around $80) and of course you can purchase XOXO and Rampage and find cute selections as well. So, if you feel the need to wear something that feels casual while making an amazing impact, consider the halter which can be worn over a pair of jeans or paired with a cropped jacket.

Make it Natural

I am all about MySpace. For business or entertainment it's a great way to connected with others. A recent addition to my friend list that I am interested in seeing her official site when it's ready, is Typhaney B. Jewelry. I love that she is a crafty designer and from the collection that I have seen through her site on MySpace - it seems like it's a return to a natural approach to fashion. In fact she has dubbed it as 'Stone Couture', extremely natural while being stunning at the same time. Although I haven't been to Philly in awhile, this jewelry maven calls it home and many of her pieces can be found in upscale boutiques throughout the city. I know that this is a trend that we have been seeing a lot in a variety of stores from pieces in American Eagle (which I have noticed in various photoshoots lately) to those in department stores such as Lord and Taylors and Saks 5th Ave. Make sure to add some natural elements to jewelry. Not only will you have a variety of selections to choose from; moreover, you have more ways to showcase your signature style in a new way.

SoBe Love All Around!!!

There is something about a great vacation where you can't believe where all the time went, but you know you had the time of your life! That's how I'm thinking about South Beach right now. The days were relaxing and so were the nights. Most importantly, I obtained inspiration for Kitten Couture and hope you guys will enjoy what will be appearing on the site. It'll take a few days to get back into the swing of things, but don't worry you'll hear from me a lot!

Projects on the horizon that you guys will hear about over the next month include: designers/styles that I am in love with it (of course outside of my line because I truly feel that style emerges when you blend a lot of designers within your personal style to make something uniquely you), Kitten Couture of course (the line will be in Shecky's Girl's Night Out this fall and a variety of other events so you will want to know about that) and my new obsession the House! For those of you that don't know. I have a house that I am renovating that I will eventually live in. Surfice it to say that I bought a lot of magazines with me on my trip and half of them were about renovating, decorating and more. As a personal plus, I LOVE Domino. If you don't know about this magazine, regardless of whether you are renovating or simply looking to make a few decorating changes, this is the magazine. It's from the creator's of Lucky so it has the little stickers that help you in making decisions. They are labeled, 'gifts, decorating, renovating, etc'. Great format and tips and I am hooked. So you will see my entrance into interior design and how the project turns out. It just goes to show you how anyone can embark on something when they are driven to do so. And finally, I will be showcasing websites that I just love and believe that you should check out!

So, I am super excited about everything and being able to finally correspond with those that email me on my main site, Kitten Couture and my MySpace page, with the username Cocoabebe. So keep the comments coming in and if you want to exchange links, let me know!

Much Love for Tunics!

Hiya,

So the serious business of summer has begun. Yes we have just started Spring but I am going to Miami tomorrow. This means that there will be a bit of a hiatus on the postings (although I will be connected to my sidekick and I may be able to send something over the next few days. So as I did last minute errands, I thought about a lot of the items that we will all be wearing this season (even though a few of the pieces made a strong debut last summer) - the tunic. Now some people call them caftans but I love them. They can be dressed up, made to be casual and anything in between.

There are a few stores that are carrying some cute ones - but two in the city are my favorites. First, Banana Republic has a cute Moroccan style tunic in white with navy trim (including a belt) that is about $70. I would say that it is available at most locations and it can be worn with a pair of white pants, jeans, over a bathing suit etc. It has a great crisp look.

The second store is actually on St Marks off of 2nd Ave in a Ukranian store. These tunics are handmade and absolutely gorgeous. In addition, you can buy the trims that are from the Ukrain to further embellish your tunic (I suppose) or to add to something else that you have. Seeing that my boyfriend is of Ukranian descent, I was introduced to this store which has many great finds that are also handmade and has historical/cultural ties to the Ukraine. These tunics are in the $125 range (totally worth it) and although the bodies are white, the trims come in lilac, red, navy, yellow and more. Definately take the opportunity to visit Surma (it's right near Mc Sorley's [one of the oldest bars in NYC and known for having 2 beers at a time]).

So today's pick goes to 'Lotta Stenson's' seafoam silver-sequined Indian Kurta, which can be found on iShop Blush.com. Although I don't have a tunic like this today, I love the style and you can get it for under $50 (which is a steal compared to its original price at $163. I will definately look for great looks that people are sporting in Miami and have them for you guys later on this week OR when I come back next week. Have a great week guys and if you have fashion questions let me know - I'm here to help you out!

Much Love

Kimmie
