Always Something Different ....

I love to hear about new people or at least those that are new to me. Once again, another runway and another designer - Reem.

This post is so hard to have a favorite in but I believe that this would be it! I like that it's ultra feminine, the oyster grey color is so beautiful and I love the beading in this outfit as well. This makes me think of going to a Hamptons cocktail party and packing this away for that weekend. I think that it has such a whimsical quality in it.

Somehow this reminds me of a ballerina of sorts. I can't say why but it reminds me of a performace I saw once where the ballerina was in the woods dancing and this reminds me of that moment. I love the use of red and dark grey with this fabric. It's youthful and sophisticated and it looks very comfortable.

I am and always will be a fan of paying tribute to the Grecian look. I think she looks like a goddess and I love how it hangs. I could see being on a beach and having a party while sipping some champagne. This looks so simple and fabulous that you know it works everytime you wear it. This is my tie for favorite look!

There is something about this gown that makes me love it although there are details on it that I'm not a fan of it. The pocket like items make me cringe a bit but somehow it all works. It could be the color, the way the garment hangs; however, I would be silly not to include this as a great look and definately elegant.

Kitten Finds ... MM Agency

I remember growing up watching reality shows and wishing I could be on the show. It wasn't until I went to college that I got to try my hand at getting into shows and realized that it kind of sucks standing in long lines hoping to be one of 7 characters that America will fall in love with or learn to hate! I love watching Project Runway and seeing that 3 of the models are friends of mine and you know what - much like the fashion business, everything is about the power of the connex. Although you could go to the open calls and get chosen, it's much easier when you're rep'd. I know that even for Kitten Couture, being rep'd by my showroom and being apart of key events assists me when I need to be apart of the fashion community. So this is a nice resource to have for that reality star who is on their way to fame and to hear that they were chosen to find out what happens when you put seven strangers in a house! MM Agency does casting for mtv real world and they seem to have quite a roster of people that have made it into a variety of episodes. What does reality TV have to do with fashion and why is it on this blog? Once again, the power of the connex. Some people go on a show and get 15 mins of fame. And then for the more discerning, there are those that branch off and use that quick celebrity to get their items into celeb hands and they become the next big thing. They may not be on the lips of mass America but they tap into those select markets and are able to promote their puppy, jewelry and hat lines. Sometimes if you want to get out there you have to think outside of the box!

Ah Happy Birthday Little Fashionista :)

The little fashionista is me (okay I'm not that little)! I turn 27 today (yes I was counting the minutes until the clock turned midnight). So I am giving myself a little pat on the back for being 27!! I always loved having my birthday at this time because it is the perfect blend of the end of summer warmth and the beginning of the crisp air of fall. It's a quick moment in time, but one to catch none the less. Thus the pic of Bloody Mary's which is perfect for the summer and great for the fall as well!

I have no idea how the night will end up (although I will be making a trip to the Stella Artois Draught Master Competition at the Puck Building - exciting and you can see this review at Pubcrawlin) but let me say this, I will have an awesome time! I have always felt that when it was my birthday, it was the kick off to my year. I know it sounds strange but I felt that when you turned the next age you wanted to feel that you got more accomplished in that year then you did the next one. I know that this is true for me and I hope that it continues to get better. This year is going to be huge and I thank all my friends and family that made it possible - and cuddlebear too. So, show love and support check out my design home, Kitten Couture there are a lot of great things going on there and of course, now that I am blogging away, don't just stop here at the Kitten Couture Blog, check out my other blogs in addition to this one:

  • Pubcrawlin - I am a editor and report on NYC nightlife

  • Pop Culture Whore NYC - I am a contributing writer and I talk about fashion

  • See Pretty Things - I am an editor of this blog and it is ALL about ACCESSORIES

  • Kitten Couture Blog - my personal blog and supplementary home to Kitten Couture

This is Why We Love Fashion Week ...

For every designer that we all tend to know within our "Fashion Public Knowledge", there are those like Cia. Maritima who we can learn to add to that knowledge. She also appeared at Fashion Week and below, model Karolina Kurkova was apart of the show this past Friday.

I love this white caftan it looks so feminine and you can easily put it over your bathing suit or wear it in South Beach to do some errands. I love the detailing on this piece and Kurkova wears it well.

I love bathing suits, I think you can never have enough and I love the colors with this one. Having the neutral tones balance out with the cool tones of the blue makes me want to have this suit for my next trip to South Beach.

Gottex is the First Place to See a Great Bathing Suit

I love Gottex they are one of the top bathing suit brands in the business. They are known for their great quality, ability to incorporate elements such as bathing suits that assist in taking care of your skin (they have UV protection) while also allowing you to tan. I also love their designs as well. You know that I love bathing suits, so I picked out some of my favorites.

How can I not LOVE the shapes of this bathing suit. I like that it is all white but I love how this one piece takes on new dynamics because of the geometrical cuts. This is the perfect suit to emerge from your cabana.

There is something sweet to this outfit. There are daring cuts and the hints of red are great! I love how it ties together.

I was never one to wear halters until my last trip to South Beach and now I can't imagine not including one. I love the neutrals and sportiness of this suit. Of course I love the bangle jewelry as well.

Rock Republic & Alex & Nicole

This is a great collection of designers that I decided could all be put together in one post to show the different ideas that hit the runway. Everyone has a different take on fashion and it all comes together on or near the tents.

Nicole Miller presented this past Friday. I love her clean lines. Of course, I love the resort nature of this outfit and I am always a fan of showing off the shoulders which is very sexy and casual at the same time.

I was not familiar with Alexandre Herchcovitch who was apart of the shows on Saturday but I am always happy to embrace a designer that is new to me. He's very colorful (a lot of his collection seemed to have primary colors) but I like to think that there are ways to work his colors into an outfit that may be a solid color. I think that his pieces are intended to stand out so you may have to work it a bit but I can only imagine how the pieces worked as far as being on the runway.

I was first introduced to Rock Republic a few months ago during a trade show that I worked last spring. During the Intermezzo, they were at a booth near me (I was modeling some items from BCBG's Noun line) and people were annoyed that their booth was so loud. I thought there items were interesting and I loved their jeans and rock star style. I am so glad to see more of their items and can't wait to see more of their pieces. They definately know how to have a good time. They unveiled their collection at Cipriani. The image above has a jacket that I just love. I love the sleeve, the detailing on it and how the jacket cuts back to reveal the shirt underneath. I would feel like a rockstar in this outfit.

Once again, if you want a little star quality, this line should be included because it has attitude and so many ways that you can wear it to tailor your mood of the moment.

    Japan Fashion Week

While we are enjoying Fashion Week here in NYC, Japan Fashion Week is also going on. I have to say that there are a lot of amazing designs heading out on this runway as well. As always, I am always inspired by the amount of creativity out there!

This is a great outfit by Chinami Kamishima during the 2007 Spring Fashion Week in Tokyo. I love how we see both of the models in their cream and olive ensembles!

This is another piece by Chinami Kamishima.

Takamichi Kumagai's creations are also on the runway as well in the picture above and below. I must say that the picture below is my favorite because of the pants. I know that some people are saying that the wide pants are getting a little out of hand; however, I like that this fabric is softer so the outfit is able to drape and it has a feminine look to it. I think this would be cute to pair with a tank top to make it casual or something like a shimmery shirt with a wrap to dress it up a bit.

Kumagai's pieces are really eye catching!

Perry Ellis ... We Can't Leave The Guys Out From the Catwalk

I am fair! Fashion is for everyone and whenever I see a runway, I want to let the whole Blogosphere know about it too!! Perry Ellis was also on the catwalk today and here's a selection from his show.

I'm a fan of the white and grey look. I love that it's clean and casual. It has a crisp quality while being very laid back.

Love the coat of the model in the foreground. What can you say, all white is a great look! And yes during this show Perry Ellis also showed his lounge/underwear collection as the model in the background walks back to the entrance of the runway.

Model in his lounge outfit, very nice I love long sleeves - very Sunday post brunch/pre football. The model in the background, has a jacket that I could ssee my boyfriend in. I love the natural color and that it would be good with so many pants.

This is my favorite look of the runway for this show. I like a tank top paired with these plaid pants. Looks so casual and this model shows it off very well. I could imagine this with boat shoes on, leather flip flops or something of that nature. I promise to include at least one show a day from the menswear collections :).

Marc Bouwer ... Wows At Fashion Week

Marc Bouwer presented today at Fashion Week. It's so hard to just choose a few pics but the post would be long if I put in all my favorites. So for the most part, I am making an effort to choose 4 items of each designer that I loved.

You know me, I love bathing suits. Traditionally, I am not into one pieces but I love the color and the cover up. The design of the fabric looks amazing so it had to be in here. PS he has another one piece in red that look AWESOME!

This top is insane. I love the lapel, sleeves, the way it flares out and paired with the shorts - too cute. There is a sexy, vampy quality about this that makes me wish I could buy it this very second.

What can I say, it's the shoulder. That tiny peak makes this outfit hot. I love the black and white design and the high slit. It rides the line of almost having too many things going on; however, it ends up making since and looking fabulous.

My ultimate favorite? This dress. I love the color, love how it's up in the front and cascades around you. I love how it seems that the top is brought in by this brooch. It's so elegant and yet it stops you in your tracks. This is a red carpet dress for sure!

    Runways Come Alive .... BCBG

If I've said it once, I'll say it again. September is awesome due to the huge magazines busting with fashion and of course being Fashion Week. For the next 8 days, fashion becomes even more prominent here by the large tents that are set up in Bryant Park. This year, the tents will be see through (a portion of them) as a means to show more of what goes on behind the traditionally suspicious tents. For the past few days as I have been about my business in the city, I have watched the crews coming together to create this amazing stage and now it is finally here. For those loyal fans of this site, you will be able to have a variety of shows posted on here and of course, if I can find sites with more pictures, then I will post it here as well. So I will post as much as possible and I will do my best to give up anything that I find :). If you want to know who is doing what, check out Olympus Fashion Week which shows the schedules, pictures of the runway and more. Also check out Fashion Week Daily for behind the scenes information and who did what to whom.

Now, BCBG is a line that I love for many reasons. They walked today during the show and I must say that has some awesome pieces!

This white dress is so feminine and I love the homage to the empire waist and kimono look. The detailing is awesome as well. This reminds me of fashion week and is the epitome of effortless beauty that is definately my personal style. This is my favorite of the collection from BCBG!

Love the color and I like baring the shoulders. It seems that this piece allows you to wear it in slightly different ways to achieve your preferred look. I could see this for a night out with your honey, a drink for the girls or something of this nature. Very casual and yet striking.

I love a clean look and I love seeing white. This is a nice look and I love the top.

Can I just say that I LOVE the pants. The too is cute but I love the large oants and of course when you wear white, you can't go wrong with this piece.

    See Pretty Things

A few days I was approached by someone about writing another blog. Now, many of you know that I am a contributing writer on Pop Culture Whore NYC, am an editor on Pubcrawlin' and of course my blog here! But after learning about this blog, I am proud to share the news that I am a part of a new blog that should go live later on this week as I begin to add to posts. This blog is entitled See Pretty Things and will focus on any and everything that involves accessories. So yes all these items will be on the blog. My first thought was to open the forum and allow those of you that are accessory designers to have an opportunity to have your items included wihtin future posts. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. I think that this is exciting and can't wait to hear from you. So you have more ways to get to know more about items I love and that other people love as well!

    Kitten Couture Info ...

This is so exciting. Over the past few weeks I knew that there would be a lot of changes going on at Kitten Couture but sometimes the changes are so small that they are virtually unnoticeable; however, Kitten Couture has changed! There are still many other areas that will also evolve; however, I encourage you guys to go out and see the new photographs (thanks so much to Jens at Jens Look Photography)of the jewelry that is already up. In addition, over the next few weeks there will be more pictures of brand new jewelry. Finally, I decided to preview new items that will be a part of the Libby Ross Foundation which works to raise funds to focus on issues involving breast cancer. I just wanted to keep you guys updated on the progress.

More Emmy Arrivals and Updates Too

I love Jaime Pressley's dress! This My Name is Earl, NBC star has such a regal look and I love the whole vinatge and victorian/gothic elements to this dress. I think she looks absolutely amazing - what a great choice!

UPDATE: Kudos to the cast of My Name is Earl for winning Outstanding Writing For a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for the pilot.

I love how they really mixed it up this year with a lot other shows and movies in the race for the Emmy's. In addition it is nice to see people step it up and really show how glamorous they can be. But, I can't say the same for Jeremy (which I totally think does a great job playing Ari but ...)

Now I am a huge fan of Jeremy Pivens of Entourage (and have always loved this actor even in other roles) and he gets major kudos for bringing his mom to the awards BUT did he just wake up and run over to the red carpet after a night out or something??

UPDATE: Ok you looked a little lackluster on the red carpet BUT awesome that Jeremy Pivens won as an Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Entourage.

Helen Mirren looks classy. Admitantly, I didn't know about this accomplished actress until I read about her in W and heard that she would be in HBO's Elizabeth 1st and will later be in a movie about the current Queen of England due out in theaters sometime this year. I ABSOLUTELY loved Elizabeth 1. I watched it On Demand and was blown away so I am happy to see her on the carpet looking fabulous and like she is yet again, the queen of the court.

UPDATE: Congrats to Helen for winning Oustanding Lead Actress in a Mini Series or a Movie for her role in HBO's, Elizabeth 1.

    We've Got The Emmys Arrivals

First off, let me tell you that I got these pics on Yahoo! and hopefully over the next few hours I can keep up with all the items to post on here. Since it is the Emmy's, I am temporarily replacing the catwalk that I hold so dear for the red carpet. In this particular posts I am including arrivals that are amazing and one couple had to be included within this list because they looked fabulous love but there were also others that definately looked glam on the red carpet so this post is dedicated to the Arrival Segments on the Red Carpet. It was a gorgeous day in LA and these stars definately shined!

Fortunately I was able to watch my favorite reality show on Bravo this afternoon and I love seeing Heidi and Seal together (last summer I happened to see them in the West Village shopping and they looked so cute and were totally oblivious to the paparazzi that was around them). Heidi's Project Runway is up for an award this evening but hands down these two look amazing and this proves yet again that you can be pregnant and look fabulous!

I like Cheryl Hines' character in Curb Your Enthusiasm, but I never imagined that she would wear something that I thought was really glamorous. I love the color and although I was not really crazy about the dress, the embellishment on the back was really a pleasant surprise and a playful yet sophisticated look. Great choice - love to see when the stylists are working it!

Kitten Picks ... Hello Kitty Sewing Machine

So I am in the market for a sewing machine and I have a lot of contenders! But, I happened to visit this site and because I am a fan of all things Hello Kitty, I had to share this with you guys (I think this machine would be great for collectors or children that want to sew). In addition, I LOVE LOVE this site. I am from Indiana so we had Targets in a variety of locations and this site is dedicated to everything Target! I know that we have Targets in Jersey and a few between Brooklyn and Bronx but when will Manhattan get one?? At one time we had the pop up store in Times Square and there was talk, I thought of one coming to Chelsea but alas nothing yet.
Anyway, check out Slave to Target and if you don't have a Target (hello they have Paul + Joe, Issac Mizrahi and more) then of course you can always go online to Target.com to get some amazing deals and of course kudos to the Slave to Target blog for being a part of this week's Kitten Pick of the week :)!

The Best Part About the Emmy's .....

Oh yes, how could I have forgotten? The Emmy's are tomorrow and YES I will definately be on this event giving you guys my opinion of the best dressed and those that could be seen as misses! I completely forgot that they were this month but there is NO WAY that I would have been able to present fashion's runway without showcasing the red carpet. I love when people dress up and I love knowing who and what they are wearing. So rest assured that while my eyes will be glued to a variety of shows, I will do my best to bring lots of coverage to you. So stay tuned (I will be flipping between NBC, E! and You Tube!). Of course, until the BIG event, I present a few pictures from last year's Emmy Awards!

Glen Close is absolutely amazing and has such a classy presence and yes I LOVED her in The Devil Wears Prada.

Kristen always has a great look and regardless of her role she comes off with such a flawless appearance.

This dress was one of my favorite's of the night. Marcia and the rest of the Housewives looked great but I have always loved how rich Emerald Green looks and I think she carried it off well.

    Reach Out & ...

Today has been a great day! I love when you have a weekend where you can sit down in front of the computer and just let whatever you are thinking about, run from your fingers. I was reading some of my mail from people and one person asked me something to the extent of what do I get from blogging and using interactive platforms? It's a great question because in addition to this blog, I have Kitten Couture and of course I am always looking for the next website that will increase my hits. A blog is a seriously liberating tool to have. I love that I can provide my thoughts and ideas here and get feedback. Sometimes this feedback is not on comments that you guys may see; however, I get emails and love knowing what you guys are thinking of. Sometimes I wish that I had more time to be on here and to reach out but know that it means a lot to hear from you and when I have a few days that I can't be on here - I do feel guilty and want to run and jump on here just to interact :).

I must say that when I started the blog about a year or so ago, I didn't know what I wanted to talk about and the posts were infrequent but over the past few months, I believe that this is a success (I could never even keep a diary but here I am with over 77 posts which is amazing - plus I am now a contributing writer on Pop Culture Whore and one of the editors of Pubcrawlin').

We our living in a time where there are many ways to express ourselves and to make an income as well or simply to just get people who never knew you existed to finally say "wow someone out there has something going on". Through this blog, I have been able to try out products, learn more about other designers and have had advertisers approach me - which is insane. So I would say, start a blog, you may get your own syndicated column somewhere or be the next big thing. Online, you can go from Joe Who to Joe In the Know.

The power of blogging can be something that covers a smorgasboard of topics or one that is very specific and yet that could be the key to your success. Start slow and talk about something you are passionate about or are unsure about. Go to places like MySpace, Blue Dot, etc and let your ideas be known to generate traffic and then find people that will pay you to get a space on your blog such as Blogsvertise and then work on it. In terms of writing, sites such as Blogsvertise allow you to really strengthen your writing ability by being introduced to topics, products etc that you will be able to introduce to others. Who ever thought that you could sit in the comfort of your home and write about something and make a little extra cash as well. I would definately check this site out and of course work on the other areas mentioned above. In time you will find that you have more people browsing your site, opportunities to write for others and of course you can make a little something via advertising on the blog.

    Domino Bazaar Coming Soon....

I am simply siked for one of the best shopping event seasons of the year. Of course, I am giddy about Shecky's Girl's Night Out, Kitten Couture will be at this event (which will be October 10th - 12th) and during the same month, Domino Bazaar will have their event as well!

Now many of you know that I am a huge fan of Domino magazine. It's almost too funny to see me pass up clothing mags for this magazine BUT it is simply amazing. Now they will have an event that is much like Lucky Shops and Shecky's with a complete focus on home of course. For two days on October 13th and 14th from 10am - 6pm at 135 W 18th St in NYC (I believe that this is the Altman building which actually is a great space for events such as this and sample sales) you will be able to shop at 100 home interior booths that have been selected by Domino themselves, get tips, discounted prices, cooking classes and demos as well. All of this for $25 a ticket which is awesome! This is very exciting and I plan on being at this event. Let me know if you guys are going or when it happens how you liked it and I will revisit this topic again in the upcoming weeks :). PS: They even have their own Domino Blog which I am loving so you should check this out too.

    In Style With Taipei

I could look online for days at the shows that are going on! Once again it proves that you don't have to wait for Fashion Week to get a glimpse of amazing pieces! Today, I tuned into to Taipei's In Style fashion show that occured last week. This event was organized by the Taiwan Textile Federation. This trade fair includes a variety of shows, seminars and networking events as a means to turn this amazing area into an international fashion mecca. Although I am not aware of the designers of these outfits, we can all appreciate the sense of style and beauty in them. Enjoy!
