Let's Walk it Out ...

Can there be enough outlets for fashion? I wish that there was a channel dedicated to broadcasting fashion shows, trunk shows, etc from all over the world. It never ceases to amaze me with the amount of creativity that abounds. Once again, I was looking through some AMAZING pictures and found some fav designers dominating the catwalk. So, since I am a fan of Entourage and we all know about "Hugging it Out", it seems that this same mantra was taken to the catwalks of Malta and the models definately walked it out! Once agin a big thanks to Reuters for providing pics that give an amazing glimpse of designers and models coming together to present the best in fashion!

Versace definately had my vote for taking my breath away with the designs. This first look is from the 2006/2007 Autumn/Winter collection during the "Passion for Fashion" at the Malta International Fashion Show on July 15. I love the grey tones and the way that the fabric is draped. Not only is this dramatic but it's a classic - could we expect anything else?

Since I could not choose between the Versace's that caught my eye, I had to post another. If only I could have been there to see this in person!!

How could you possibly present Versace without posting something from Valentino? This striking design was a must to include and is also a part of the same 2006/2007 Autumn collection as well.

Over the next few weeks, I am super excited to see other designers (known to me and not) present their ideals of fashion for the upcoming seasons. Feel free to give me a tip because there are truly so many designers showcasing all over the world that it's easy to overlook an area or simply not know that an event happened there!

Blog of the Moment ...

Everyday I try to embrace a new blog of some sort. So I thought it would be cool to choose a blog that I think is awesome and that everyone should take some time out to check on it. Because I must admit that I read Craigslist everyday, I can relate to some of the random things that The Wild World Of CL reflects on. We have all looked on here for something new, slightly used, an event, job, etc. Craigslist and MySpace come up so much that it definately has a place in pop culture at this point. I know that this is a new blog but it has a lot of potential and I think that it will seriously catch on. There's humor, irony and the blush factor when you realize that if you know what's going on on this site and you know the people that are being talked about, you just may be addicted to CL!!!

Brazil vs. Italy?

Yes, I am well aware that soccer is over and that Italy took it all during FIFA's World Cup; however, on the catwalk, both countries are running neck and neck! This afternoon's posts showed great designers in Brazil's Sao Paulo and tonight while Brazil continues to strut the runways, another country has begun to show their fashion sense as well. Pictured below is a model sporting Agua de Coco's collection during today's shows at the Sao Paulo Fashion Week. This picture is courtesy of the AP.

Today in Rome, the AltaRoma Fashion Week showed such designers as Lebanese Abed Mahfouz. Pictured below are two pieces from his Fall/Winter 2007 collection. Once again kudos to the AP. Seriously, you could spend hours looking through one great picture after another! The endless amount of creativity that is presented at the shows is truly phenomenal!

New York Moves Magazine Event

Last night, my boyfriend and I went to a New York Moves Magazine "Inside Party" event sponsored by Range Rover Manhattan, Bombay Sapphire, Pom and more. When we get some pictures and info I will let you guys know. What a great rooftop party to go and mingle with others from such a wide demographic. We met cool photographers, brokers, fashionistas and a lot more. The time definately flew by! New York Moves is for the career oriented woman in NYC. They do so many events throughout the year as well. Click the title to go to the site and you can actually 'flip' through their mag online and you can buy it at a variety of locations around town as well.

Sao Paulo Fashion Week

In my love for fashion and reaching out to other designers and areas and as many of you know, I am a resort designer - I had to share this! Sao Paulo is having their fashion week right now and yesterday MANY designers tore up the runway with their creations. To be honest, I am not familiar with many of the Brazilian designers so I will be updating this information with a website, names, etc but look at how hot these styles are! Simply browsing through these pictures has made me begin a new quest - get to know a lot more of these designers! One of my best friends is Brazilian and I hope to attend one of these shows soon and visit the shops as well. The above picture is a performance with models during Fause Haten's collection.

This is a close up of a Cia Maritima bathing suit.

I LOVE bathing suits and this is something that I want to introduce into my line. Once agin this is Cia Maritima which I have to add her as one of the designers that I would definately love to have her items in my closet. Model, Yasmin Brunet struts her stuff in this summer collection.

The address above which I would totally wear because it's hot and playful was designed by Iodice and is apart of the summer collection.

**Update**

There is a great blog called Made in Brazil which covers all things Brazilian. He has a post that lists all of the designers that will appearing. There will be a lot more pictures since the shows last through the 18th. I will continue to update when I find new sites. Of course, you can always visit Fashion Week Daily because they have coverage or you can always look at Getty Images to see what they have posted as well. The above pictures are courtesy of th AP which were found via Yahoo!

Miuccia Prada Waist Down Event, Beverly Hills

So, once again I am addicted to getting images from a variety of fashion shows and saw that in Beverley Hills there is an exhibit dedicated to skirts from the waist down.

Pictured above is Molly Sims and Eva Mendes. This six week event pays hommage to Miuccia Prada's collections and was visited last night by a variety of stars including Lindsay Lohan, Dita Von Teese and more. I definately think that this is awesome and if you are in the area, it is open to the public so check it out!!

A Sun Accessory?

Can it be this hot? Ok a few months ago I was all about warm but in NYC there is no way that people can enjoy a nice transition, it's either pretty cold, hot or something odd in between. For us, a transition occurs about a day or so. You have a perfect day and then you have the swing of tremendous weather conditions. Right now we are experiencing heat with a cloudy day or heat with the sun. After hanging out with my boyfriend last night he made a suggestion of something that I should post about - the parasol. I thought that it was a decent idea but in the process of writing this now, it's genius!!!

A few weeks ago (another day with my boyfriend and I being out and about), we had the pleasure of sharing our table with a couple. One of the women carried a fan - not the Brookstone kind that's motorized but the one that ladies from long ago would fan themselves with. It made me wish that in my rather large bag of "must carry" items that I would have a fan. At least it creates a great image and it would make me feel a lot better.

So, with the fan being something that I would definately wish to embrace, it stands to reason that a parasol is not only a great accessory but another way of bringing back that old age elegance into something new. Parasols could be the lacy kind that screams the Victorian age OR you could opt for the ones that looks like what they stick in your daiquiris! I opt for the cool paper kind and they can even help in not only keeping the sun off you but with UV protection included - this is worth carrying around. My boyfriend claims that this will be a trend that we will see in NYC (I have read a lot of blogs in other areas of the world that this has been quite popular). I think if anything I could see it popping up in the village. Hopefully, I will be able to be a part of this trend and can share some pics of this!

***UPDATE***

So this week (this would be on 07.19.2006), I was walking around on a cloudy day in NYC (although instantly it started becoming sunny and amazing) and my boyfriend and I were in the Village. As I had posted earlier on the original post, he came up with the idea for me to assist in bringing the sun parasol to dominance. Well we walked into this shop and they had sun parasols and fans. I wasn't amazed by the parasols but I thought the fans were too cute. I definately felt like one of those ladies from back in the day - cooling myself off with my ornate fan. Noe my fan (courtesy of my cuddlebear) was only $6 - nominal for the idea of being able to push air around; however, I am on a serious quest to get an AMAZING fan. More and more I am seeing people with them and I would like to get a very stylish one. Either way, I'm loving my fan (not as great as my old Brookstone electrical fan - but way cuter) and if you go to the Village you are bound to find a cheap one that's stylish to hold you over until you meet THE ONE.

Another Community for Kimmie ...

I love blogs, everything is at your fingertips because someone is writing about it! As you know, I am one of the contributing writers at Pop Culture Whore NYC. Check out my new article on Brandy! I always write about the fashion end of celebs and never anything mean but definately supporting their look or talking about how they should attempt to enhance it. When you're done with that article, check out other works or simply look at the whole blog - there's tons of good stuff here! I think I will create a series of links that allow you to see the articles that I have written! It may take a bit but it'll be up on the side tool bar soon and you guys can search it out!

More Kitten Couture Around the Bend ...

Yes yes this month is the kick off to big things (yes I know there have been a lot of posts tonight and one was a bit ranting - but you have to 'Relax, Relate & Release')! So this month I have my first event that will allow Kitten Couture's Ibisco Collection to emerge!! In conjunction with The Libby Ross Foundation, I will be introducing the Pink Collection which a portion of the proceeds starting in October will go to the fight against breast cancer. This is a great cause and one that I hope you will be a part of in some manner. Many items from a variety of designers will be a part of the store and if you are a boutique that is interested in adding something like this to your site, get in touch with me!

In addition to this event that will be at Redemption in NYC - the unveiling of sponsors .... we have a new color to showcase. The last few weeks was the fabulous Mauve and soon I will launch the new color, this is a great chance to take a look (if you have yet to do so) at pieces in the Mauve collection that are a perfect compliment to this summer and great to carry into the fall. Above I have 'Isabel' which has been REALLY popular over the last few weeks. It's a great blend of Mother-of-Pearl Shell and various handcrafted beads that are Czech, glassblown and quartz. Of course we have other styles and you can see the entire collection for the month of June for more peeks at items available now! Also coming on board will be the SoBe shells but due to their limited availability, we are holding them off just a bit longer. In addition, we have a photoshoot that will be kicking off new pieces, we will launch the picture here and you will see more on the site over the next few weeks. Don't stop checking in, you never know when I will pop on! That's about all for the month of July but seriosuly that's huge as we go into August. Briefly, I will let you know and as we get closer I'll make sure you have all the info you need in order to show your support at the shows, online and beyond!

Next month we have Moda Manhattan (huge trade show - great platform), obviously we will be showcasing another fabulous color and of course the Kitten Couture Trunk Show sponsored by p.i.n.k. vodka which is a great way for those of you in the media, boutiques and buyers to get a chance to see me and the line if you missed us at the shows. Over the next few weeks we will let you know and I'm super excited to share all this news and much more. Once again nothing but hugs there are so many great things going on (and not so great but I suppose this is my learning curve and to be great you have to go through it) and partnerships and even though it's hot outside I can't wait to tell you about holiday - but one day at a time before it all goes too fast!

Grr .. Personal Rant ...

From the get go, I apologize for the rant and the lack of response. Coming off of Fourth of July, dealing with work and the line - plus life in general it can be a bit hard. I have been thinking about this particular topic since Saturday and had the urge to put it out there just to see the words. It's an issue that I know friends of mine and I try to laugh off but at the end of the day we all wonder about it and as people come and go, we know that we are not the only ones that have an issue with this.

What's up with people? Seriously I think that some people do not know how to talk to people (and honestly nonverbal and verbal skills speak volumes so you should make sure you are watching both when interacting with others). I am an avid believer that two people can say the same thing but the delivery can be night and day! Recently, I attended a meeting and although it was meant for everyone to be "on the same page" clearly, we were not in the same library. Although I was not offended, I left feeling a little empty about the conversation and that which was meant to pump me up, let me feel like my options had been slimmed down to one path.

It's so hard to work and have the passion to go to the same place everyday while you work on something that you LOVE. You know how it is, sometimes you work somewhere and you feel literally drained before you even step inside; however, as soon as you leave you feel like you've had all this pent up energy! Even more ridiculous is the ability to come home and work on your passion until the wee hours of the morning - but it's so satisfying and you feel that you have made a semblance of a step. While you work you feel like you're going through the motions and that the smallest thing can be taken out of context. Depending on the stress and interactions at work, you wonder if there is an appropriate outlet to get out your frustrations. Talk among co-workers can be therapeutic but can also turn nasty. Many of your friends are co-workers and this creates an invisible line or at least a zone where you carefully approach certain topics. Finally you have those on the outside that have no idea in regards to the magnitude of your job and how it makes you react in these odd ways. If anything they feel that there is an imaginary switch that alleviates any ill will that you may have felt at one time in regards to the day or week's activities.

Where is the line between coming up with something great that you vow will never feel like work and will maintain positive energy?? Or do you create a masterpiece only to become jaded and to watch it manifest into something that now you are bound by it? We see how people on the news talk about how a company went from 3 dedicated best friends to a multi-million dollar empire that employs thousands of people. Everyone vows to maintain the pillars of the concept - but then things start to spiral out of control and miss the original intention of the business' products/services. Thus, a decision has to be made. To take care of your day to day, people do what they need to do and hope that it will teach them something that they can use on their passion; however, at the very least it must make sense financially, physically and emotionally. But when the equation starts to slip and the feelings become more unsatisfying - all the reason is gone!

The other day I had the pleasure to watch The Devil Wears Prada and although the book and the movie start to go in opposite directions, I love both of them mainly because I see me in Andy and I see that the job depicted has the strange duality of the one that I hold now. An article in relation to the book talked about how my generation feels the need to "have it all" while not paying their dues. I don't think that it's a matter of now wanting to pay your dues. There is a necessity to running back and forth to get something done, to pause before speaking your mind too quickly in certain situations and of course just learning all facets of the position so that you can appreciate it as you move up. BUT there is also a limit. When you know what you want to do and you know that you're doing something as a temporary means you want to feel that not only do you matter but everntually the playing field evens out. You don't want to feel anxious and as if you continue to give on your side while everyone else retains their initial cards. This does make me fight to be independent but it also lets me know that a person does not need to live this way and that there are options and sometimes the learning curve requires that you simply get out of one car to advance to a new challenge that is not only stretching you but more satifying. Of course this could just be a tired rant of someone who wants to "be there already", is turning 27 and wonders how did time seriously slip away so fast?? If you're an entrepreneur out there let me know your thoughts and how you juggle.

Sigh .... Shake it Off

Fashion Week in NYC Around The Corner

I don't know who it was that turned me on to Gettys Images but whichever Blogger it was, THANK YOU. I love the idea of being able to see pictures all over the world and if I am interested in learning the backstory I just google the event and can read about what happened! I say this to say that today I was able to look at the images of Fashion Week in Paris! I didn't realize that it was going on (time is seriously getting away from me) but I love the idea of seeing runway pieces (even those that you know you wouldn't normally see outside) and how it becomes realway or simply fantasy!

Growing up I used to flip through Vogue right alongside my Cat in the Hat book! I loved seeing these creations and wondered what it would be like to have such a gift. Now I can see how it is through my own designs and it's such an amazing feeling to do a show that you may have spent a year on just to end in 20 - 30 mins. It's a rush and totally worth all the mulling and issues that come with it. If you would love to see the masters at work, check out Getty Images and look at Armani, Dior and more work their stuff on the runway and of course see their pics behind the stage as well!

Take a Note on How To Embrace These Styles ...

This summer people are definately rocking that casual luxury style! (As many of you know my day job is at a certain casual luxury men's and women's store on 5th Ave in NYC with shirtless greeters - hmm). After setting the visuals at our store, I see some of the trends that we have out there popping up in other areas. I love these takes on our presenatations! With all the parties and events that we're scheduled for, it can be hard to figure out what to wear. When in doubt, simple, casual and a little bit of style can go a long way. Check out how some stars from recent movie/product premiers have chosen to show their sense of style. Take note and as always style is about taking something that is already out there and extending it to your personal over all look!

At the Priemer of The Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Ashley Tisdale definately looked hot pairing an embroidered tunic top with a belt. This style has started to pop up all over and you know I love the tunics because of an earlier post written earlier this summer (how sad is it that I can say earlier this summer and that we are already in July?). The belt being worn as a high wasted obi brings a sexiness that glams up any outfit. Simply worn with a pair of leggings (I am not a fan of leggings but this outfit shows that you can make it work) makes you ready for rooftop parties, a friends housewarming or a little barbecue.

We can all "Say I", with Christina Milan at the Sidekick 3 Release Party at the Hollywood Palladium (PS loving the new Sidekick and can't wait to upgrade my own). Loving the use of integrating one of this summer's big themes: stripes, nautical motifs, white capris and the big bag. Rarely am I disappointed with her sense of style and fun flirty atmosphere. Take note, wear something like this for brunch, outdoor cafe's for late dinners and a random night when you need to look your sexiest without being too overt about trying to catch the eye of someone special.

Launch of a New Jewelry Color ...

Hiya,

It's been a busy past couple of days but I will be unveiling a new color within the next few days. For those that have been purchasing our Mauve & Shell Collection - many thank you's!! It's awesome to walk down the street and have people stop me and ask where I got this fabulous jewelry and to see their faces when they see that they can get it through the site!! Each month there will be a new color to embrace and love as much as the one before.

As far as odds and ends, check out Yahoo to see where I will be. There is a link so that you can get to the site and of course you can go to the main site at Kitten Couture. We have a lot of shows coming up and right now, I am in the middle of creating some additional events that are holiday specific. How horrible is it that I am already thinking about the winter holidays? But I love that time of the year (nay not the cold) but I love the fact that people get together, love to shop and can enjoy some libations as well. I am coming up with some events in Manhattan but have found that people in Brooklyn were looking for some love so I may set up something there. At this point, I would love to have other designers involved so that I can meet people. If you are interested in getting involved, let me know - I swear I don't bite. Also, thanks for signing up for the newsletters. They don't come out too many times a month but it's a great way of getting to know me and finding out where I will be next. This month is huge because it kicks off my events so I am always interested in finding another place to increase the exposure!

Finally, I also want to send love over to Loves Cool (she makes the amazing green tea cookies that I talked about in the Tavalon Tea Post that I wrote awhile ago). And of course over to Pop Culture Whore NYC. It's definately an awesome blog to check out, I am one of the contributing writers on this blog and I promise to keep writing on there as well no matter how crazy my schedule gets but I wanted to spread the love there as well before I rest for another action packed day!

Scary but True!!

Woo,

Ok I have a semi scary story - what do you do when you find that your iPod is slowly sabotaging itself (and ultimately you) when I opts to not play your songs? I must admit that after purchasing Sophie (you see my jewelry and you know I love to name things, so why not my pink iPod) last July I knew that this was a friendship that would last! Sophie and I could rock out to my favorite songs and no matter how "uncool" some of them may be (huge fan of Aqua's 'Barbie Girl') she would always keep my music safe. This little pact seemed to be interrupted earlier this year when Jay Z's 'Aint No Love' and The Eagles 'Hotel California' started skipping right past the screen. I mean, a lot of my songs started to slowly make an escape; however, I could still see them and play them through my library in iTunes. For an entire month I attempted to email through iTunes support center and it seemed that no one had ever heard of this phenomenon. Sophie and I were on a break of a sort but I didn't even know what had went wrong or how I could fix it. I remembered someone telling me about rebooting her but it seemed so scary and somehow I couldn't install the software.

Slowly but surely, I got used to seeing my phantom songs skipping by and resigned myself to enjoying them through iTunes - it's not like any other songs started leaving. Then a couple of days ago, more songs disappeared and this was when I realized that I had to take the controls back to bring back my music! Finally, I googled around and found that other people had this problem and that somehow I would need to figure out how to run the software. Long story short, I restored the factory settings via the software as a means to clear the memory and then had to put back the songs/podcasts through iTunes. This is a long story to say that it's super important to back up and try to use as many communities that you can to get your music back on track. How many other people are having issues with their iPods and continue to suffer from not knowing what's wrong or how to fix it. This has been an ongoing problem where I finally came to learn how to get Sophie up and running - completely rambling but essential to enthusiasts!

Events Calendar ...

For those that are on my site, you know you can visit my page and learn more about my events. But I also thought that if people wanted a quick reference and if you are looking on my blog, why not have a link for the calendar so you can see what's going on with Kitten Couture? I think this is a fabulous idea and hopefully will have this available for your enjoyment by the end of the week (although it should be a lot sooner). Let me know how you guys like it and if you are a designer in the city that is doing events and would love to spread the word, give me a shout and I will post it and stop by if I can!

**UPDATE**
So, I finally put up a calendar. I am using one through Yahoo and you can find out whatever information you need to know that you may not see on the blog. Click here for the Yahoo Calendar or you can see it on Kitten Couture as well

Fighting for the Ongoing Cause ....

So, many of you know that I am all about philanthropy. From the inception of Kitten Couture, I created a yearly event entitled, 'The Fight for Pink'. This was a music and fashion event where a portion of the proceeds went to a breast cancer organization in NYC. This year I am super excited to announce that I have partnered with the Libby Ross Foundation. Beginning in October and extending throughout the year (this is a cause that needs constant attention) Kitten Couture will be including select products that will be a part of the Libby Ross Foundation store. Within the next few weeks, you will see information recognizing Kitten Couture as one of the participants of this worthy cause - so keep checking back! In addition, we will be involved in events with this amazing foundation. As more details become known I will let you guys know. Many of the events are here in the city; however, to participate and to great fabulous items for your mind, senses and body - you can shop online to get Kitten Couture, Essie and more right to your door.

BIG NEWS!!

Ok so this is HUGE! Kitten Couture just got picked up by a showroom! I'll be represented by Janine Weil Ltd in NYC. This is a big deal and a great way for exposure and getting in front of stores. I will definately pass on information like stores that I will be a part of over the next few weeks. If you keep working you'll eventually see some light (although every positive thing means that there's more work and something else to work towards again). I just wanted to spread the love and pass this on to everyone. Within the next few days there will be more jewelry placed on the site.

PS. As a side note, who else is as glued to the TV as I am? I must say that the next month will be amazing because of the World Cup! Being a former cheerleader for the NY Metro Stars (which is now Red Bull NY), I love seeing the games and seeing amazing athletes from all over the country.

Can We Stop With the Rain Already??

This has nothing to do with fashion and everything to do with the rain. I can't believe how much rain we have been getting. This is supposed to be June as opposed to April!! I LOVE LOVE the feedback that I have received from you guys and from various designers in the community. Keep the love coming and spread it around. SO on the agenda for today, I have been emailing and calling stores to get the jewelry placed in stores. This is very exciting for me and I hope to start hearing the comments. I know that there are boutiques and online stores that do read this blog - feel free to contact me if you would like to include this within your shops!

Much Love

It's Official

Happy June everyone!!

I can't believe that we are in the month of June (yes I am up early/late but I wanted to get a few thoughts on here before I rest to take on another day), I'm already thinking about Fourth of July right now, parties in the summer and oh yeah JEWELRY!!! I have finally completed a new segment of jewelry which is now available on Kitten Couture right now! As you know, jewelry has been on the site before; however, we are taking it in a completely different direction. Every month we will be showcasing a specific color (yes there will be pieces outside of this available but throughout the month you will see the signature color and more pieces will be appearing on the site for the month) - this month, the Mauve & Shell Collection. In honor of it being the summer, I couldn't leave out one of my favorite things, the beach and of course what better way to start off the season than to showcase Kitten Couture's favorite color, Mauve! You'll find bracelets and necklaces and don't be afraid to send a comment my way and of course, custom creations are always an option, you can always contact me to explain your interests!

These pieces within the "Showcased Collection" are handmade and contain beading containing natural beads, shells, Czech beads, porcelain and more. This is a continuing collection that I am excited to see evolve and I know you will want to see what colors are on the horizon for the preceding months ahead! Take a look and sign up for the e-mail list where you will obtain exclusive promotions that are only available to those that sign up for this list!

In addition to jewelry, I have added some new areas to the site which I am proud of. One, you can now submit links if you are interested in linking with me. So far the titles of those areas that I am interested in linking to are on my site. Those interested in linking simply need to send my their site, a quick note about it and where the reciprocal link will be. I'll make sure to send you an email back to let you know if/when it will be on the main site. Secondly, my blog is finally linked to my main site. If you find yourself browsing around and need to check out what's going on with me, click the 'Blog' link at any of the pages and you will find yourself right back here.

Also, if you have a blog or an indie magazine let me know. I take a few hours out of the day to check up on other people's blogs and I think it would be great to find another one that becomes amazingly addictive!

Thank you for all the great comments and suggestions. It all helps and a SUPER thank you to other supportive designers out there who have taken the time via MySpace, here and just hanging out on my site - to send love and well wishing. It's a great community to be a part of! Also thanks to boutiques spreading the love around as well. I look forward to this month and sharing more info with all of you about what I am up to!

New Jewelry Added to Kitten Couture ...

It's here! New jewelry has been added to Kitten Couture! Now we are always looking to add great pieces BUT seeing that they are handmade with love, we wanted to make sure that you guys had something to look forward to. Every month you can expect to see a certain stone/color showcased. This month we are in the sneak peek period for June, so we are all about MAUVE. You'll find a variety of pieces being added over the next few days to kick off this new portion of the collection. Make sure that you sign up for the emails so that you can get exclusive offers about new pieces or those that are currently on the site. Towards the end of the month you will also learn about the next month's color as well - something to look forward to. Of course since these items are handmade (with much love of course), there are variations so they will not look exactly like that which is pictured on the site. But you can expect that they will be delivered to you and that they will include the porcelain, glass blown and additional beads that were depicted on the main site. If you have any questions, just ask me and keep your eyes on the site as well!!

Tavalon Tea ... The Future?

So today started out absolutely amazing. Not only did I get in some yoga but I also got in a little belly dancing. After this, I felt the need to try a new place - something tasty. So, we all remember when I talked about LOVING Herb + Ginger which has those amazing tea accessories and teas that can be purchased online? NYC has an AMAZING tea shop as well in Union Square called Tavalon "The Future of Tea".

Located on 14th between 5th and University, this tea shop is like a comfy lounge complete with a DJ and also knowledgeable staff as well. I loved that they had tastings outside and of course being someone who is extremely visual, I thought their displays of teas that you could purchase in larger quantities were presented well. After looking at the extensive tea mix, I decided that I would try the Tropical Peony, which is white tea with a tropical blen of pineapples and conut. All of their mixed and remixed teas are available as a hot or iced (add .50) option which is awesome.

The guy behind the counter which was super sweet suggested that I pair this with a pineapple bar. That wasn't what I had a taste for after I saw mini green tea cookies. Each one was .75 or 3 for $2. As a whole, this tasty treat came to $5.25!! My 12oz drink was only $2.75 (they have a 16 and 20 oz option for all teas). It almost seemed like my tea just appeared. Everything is so sleek and minimal that you don't see what happens behind the scenes. Your drinks appear to come from behind the scenes. Also, they have a liquid sugar which was a lot better than having granulated sugar that tends to clump towards the bottom and doesn't really get absorbed by the drink itself.

While I waited, I was interested in seeing that the baked items come from local establishments such as Balthazar, 'wichcraft, Rice to Riches and Amai Tea and Bake House (this is where the green tea cookies came from and seriously they were the best I ever had). In addition, I saw that local yoga studios must have also partnered with this boutique tea house since their literature was there as well. I think that this is a must to visit and I was impressed. Since my boyfriend lives in this area and I am always shopping around and visiting Wholefoods, I will make sure to stop in here at least once a week and more once the weather gets even warmer. Their blends seem to be great. If you are not in NYC and will not be here anytime soon, make sure that you stop by their website and order their teas and accessories online!

My Travel Life ...

So, I was reading my emails this week and saw that someone had checked in on my blog. She explained that she loved my site and wanted me to contribute to her travel blog. I wasn't sure so I just checked it out, surprise surprise when I realized that this place was a GREAT idea. My Life of Travel is a travel based blog of sorts where you can share places you have been to and what you liked about it. As you build this Travel Journal, there are locations on a map that are added. Some people that are world travelers could have a lot of locations on their map. If you ever wanted to have your own map, you could simply have one on this site without all the little pin holes that you would normally have on your wall. I think this is a great site and love that you can do surveys about the places you visited and you could post pics. If you are interested, check out my site on this website and then sign up for your own space to talk about your travels. This makes me want to put more of my vacations up but it's very late!

Eeeeeee!

Ok so you know when you read comic strips, the characters get frustrated and say "Aargh"? I've never been an "Aargh" type of girl but sometimes you can yelp out a high pitched squeal every now and then. So at this moment I felt compelled to relieve some stress and just share a few thoughts that were on my mind. Why is it that seems when you are prepared to take on a task, that more pop up with equal importance? I'm on that brink where you know a lot of great things are going to happen, but it's going to take a lot of work and it will happen all at one time.

On one side, I am quickly becoming a true home owner. Soon I will be knee deep in cosmetic changes, a little gutting and buying new furniture and appliances that I previously didn't have a need for. I love this idea because being someone that has always been visually inclined, this will be my first serious attempt at enhancing a blank canvas and living within my own art (could be scary but at least I can make changes if I don't like it - although I won't have a lot of time). I am also eager to take on components like having a yard, porch and all the little things that were taken for granted when I lived in Indiana (having a little green between my toes for the summer will be nice). Did I mention that throughout the entire vacation with my adorable boyfriend, that I seemed to be salivating over every home decor magazine?? In about a month or so I should be moved in - which allows for more room for me, my loves (clothing, jewelry, shoes, etc) and my baby love Kitten Couture. Am I freaked at all these additions and room for it ... nah.

Baby love - Kitten Couture. This is a hungry baby that needs lots of time for creation and agonizing over which pieces can go forward (if you though packing for a vacation for the beach was hard, try thinking about what the new collection will be like and if the niche markets will like it), needs lots of attention (how many shoots can I get it in and press will write about it) and it simply needs a lot of direction (where I want Kitten Couture to go and what branding is appropriate for it). I have events in the works that are being finalized which makes her fall re-entry all the more exciting but the time seems to be slipping between my fingers!! It's an amazing feeling to take on something bigger than yourself and to create something out of nothing but on the same side, it's the perception of the creation and everything that comes from its showing. Right now if you don't have plans for October, how about attending Shecky's Girl's Night Out! This will be a great shopping event and of course you will get to see Kitten Couture with its new collections, jewelry and more (yes the new jewelry will be posted on the site very soon).

What else is out there? Ah - turning the big 2-7! How could I forget about that gem? I'm actually excited about this one. I think I want to have a sizeable bash. I want to get all the friends that I have acquired throughout the years including recent friends that have helped me with this line and just been there to hear me ask questions and more.

Of course there are many other little things that make me wonder about my direction. I think it's funny how just choosing one option creates a series of scenarios that would have never had to be looked at. At the same time you balance between the reality that exists now and the one that is fast in coming but still needs some elbow grease. Today I have been working between getting prepared with the business side and not procastinating. So of course I began to read blogs from who else but those in the beauty and fashion industries. I was amazed at how everyone has gone about building their dreams and how they have advanced. I also learned how a step forward sometimes seemed like a step back until opportunity knocked and brought them to a better place. Right now I feel like this is a fashion show. It was always exciting when you got to the venue and were prepped with hair and make-up. There was a little anxiety but, you knew showtime was coming. But then when you were in the wings and waiting to be called up and all lights were meant to be on you, you had that limbo feeling where you weren't sure if everything was just right and you wondered if everything would be fluid once you hit the catwalk.

As I stand on the catwalk waiting for the first step (it's alwaus the semi scariest one but you will yourself forward), I think about how much I have learned and what else I will learn and hope that I meet more in the community that will either directly or unknowingly share a "kernel of truth" that will drive me closer to the eventual goal (that's still crystalizing). Any thoughts out there? I do love the emails, comments and questions. I love hearing from other aspiring/up and coming designers, etc who feel that I have something to share with them to make them more steadfast for the journey. Keep it coming and keep the well wishing thoughts coming. Soon I can post some new jewelry pieces that will be available on Kitten Couture. Of course the line will be as well but it will not be made public unitl later this year (which sucks but know that it is fabulous and that you will definately find something that you will swear up and down that was made with you in mind!). Thanks so much for reading this "moment" and I look forward to seeing you guys at the upcoming events!

Much Love

Rubiglo Turns Heads

Morning Guys,

I love being linked to so many great fashion/beauty sites. You're able to see other stores or products and of course I love purchasing items online. My new find is a great mixture of design and an amazing product. Rubiglo is a natural company that enhances your natural beauty! Jojoba is included within the ingredients of this great little corked urn. I love their powder blush in these amazing urns. It reminds me of something Egyptian. No I have not tried this either but the design of the container and the three tones it comes in (earth, nearly earth, desert rose, gold dust and coral sands). These blushes are great bronzers for the skin!

The amazing news is that this blush can be used on cheeks, eyes, lips and nails?? Apparently when wet, the tones change. This is something that I would be interested in trying and seeing that it's less than $10 dollars, it's worth trying out. Although I had never heard of this company, it has been around for $20 and was introduced in department stores. Much like other products I have mentioned, I will let you know when I purchase it and how it worked. I believe that it would be good for all skin types and tones. Has anyone tried or heard of this? They also have other products that are just as good for your skin that look fabulous.

Designers!!!!

Hi guys,

I am all about linking to designers and getting to know them, especially if you are in NYC! Don't be shy. I think that as a community, it makes us stronger and you never know how you can network in the future for events. I would love to link to you guys and provide a blip. In addition, it allows for people who read this blog or comes from my site to learn more about someone that they didn't know about before! Let's spread the love :).

Tea For Two Minus One!

We lead hectic lives and even when we vow to restrict our activities, they increase! In this effort we strive to take a little "me time" to find our centers so to speak. Sometimes we pamper ourselves with mani and pedis, have drinks with friends or sit on our balconies and watch the world below. My new thrill is to go to tea houses. I have two faves for those that are in NYC Teany and High Chai. Both are great places to relax and try some magnificent teas. For that instance, you feel like a million bucks and as if you have gotten a tad bit healthier! But what happens when you go home??

How about having your own tea set and to find some great blends to boot? I thought about this after reading Domino (great magazine from the publisher's of Lucky but it happens to be for the home). I saw that within the April issue, they had a segment on creating tea rooms. I thought that it was so cute that I wanted to turn my sunroom (remember I am still renovating a house) into my own tea room. I would love to have a few sets but I found one that would be perfect just for me when I want to enjoy a cup without anything else but cool breezes and silence.

Herb + Ginger has a super cute site that sells loose tea AND has some really cute sets. I have not tried these on my own, but in my effort to support those that are indie companies and presenting great products, I know that this will be something on my list. So as far as my "wishlist" would go - here are my pics. I am all about Asian Fusion and this set is perfect with a really crisp celeron (cute green) color. The 'Thé Vert Tea Mug' which is $11.95, reminds me of the cups that you would find at Japanese restaurants - very easy to handle sitting on a cute chaise. The little sugar bowl, Thé Vert Covered Sugar which retails for $19.95, has the same Asian look and is a perfect compliment to the mug and of course to the Thé Vert Teapot which is $49.95. These are great items to enhance your tea experience and after looking at the sites tea offerings, I would definately be interested in trying the Rooibos Teas. They are from South Africa and have antioxidants in them (very healthy) and the tea blends seem so refreshing. My choice (if I were purchasing them right now based on their names) Hawaiian Vacation, Island Fantasy or Queen's Caramel.

Memoirs of a Glam Girl

Ok ladies, I am all about living it up in a casual life style - isn't that how the modern glam gal is? We can all be glam in our own way and this is why I have fallen in love with the Kimono. It's Old World (no not Old School) elegance and makes the most casual outfit glamorous. And as you know, I love anything that moves with you and makes it easy to shop, visit your favorite places and of course hanging out with your friends!

Now the kimono can be worn for an amazing night on the town. The first picture is from Bebe and is only $69. I love the chocolate tones and how sheer it is. All you need is a pair of pants, cute shoes and a simple bag! To jazz it up, you can find a solitary piece for your necklace and just be natural!

Nieman Marcus is currently displaying the kimono that is perfect for running errands - until you hear that your girlfriends are meeting for drinks. Once again, chocolate tones and a little embellishment. It definately doesn't look like you're trying to look glamorous and you can wear it with a pair of jeans and flip flops.

Now, although I am not pregnant, I love this third top! For the glowing mommie to be, Eva Lillian has made the softest looking kimono in a mint color. Simple and elegant for all her needs, this is another way of still being glam while going to Wholefoods, going to Jamba Juice or simply shopping on an amazing spring/summer day.

This is a great look that I think we saw a lot of last summer and trust me - it will be back this year as well. You can even have blank kimonos and embellish them to your style. You can wear them with a variety of pieces, skirts, gauchos, jeans or if they are long enough - a dress.

Eyes Lip Face

eyeslipsface

A year ago (almost to the day), someone asked me to do a modeling event for a revolutionary make-up company called E.L.F. Obviously, I read the acronym and wasn't exactly as excited as my friends were. Once going to their showroom and learning about their philiosphy, I was totally siked! E.L.F. stands for Eyes.Lip.Face. Visit the website and you realize that everything is for a $1. Before you get skeptical, let me tell you how great the products are! The creators of this line have come from a variety of make-up companies, including Hard Candy. Everything from the makeup, many of the applicators and more a $1. They are also packed with nutrients that are great for the skin and the colors are awesome.

After attending the event, we were able to make a selection of pieces and let me tell you I love the High Shine Lip Gloss which simply puts additional shine on top of whatever you happen to wear. The second favorite is the Eye Whip which seriously feels like strawberry or chocolate mousse coming out of a tiny tube. But the shimmer that is created, is amazing.

Now, for those that know me, you know I am a HUGE fan of M.A.C and I would never be found without it. Since attending this event a year ago, I have added E.L.F. to my make up bag and it serves as a fabulous compliment and I think that you should also give it a try!! Click the picture above to look at the full product line.

Kitten Couture Loves Hollywood Party Girl ....

For those that are addicted to their iPods, I just stumbled onto the best podcast! I am an iTunes junkie and I tend to download a lot of music but I happened to get an email from Shecky's (I believe) that talked about this woman in LA who crashed parties, got amazing swag (goodie bag treats) and saw the stars. Lara Morgensen writes a weekly column on E! Online and dishes on the stars and tells you how to get into the industry parties while also getting amazing stuff! Being in NYC, I know how much fun it is to go out to parties and get the good stuff, I really can't wait to go to LA to experience their scene as well. Anyway ... check out her site, listen to her weekly podcast and of course check out her column. She seems very down to earth and you have to love a girl whose quest is to get into the next party!

Speaking of podcasts, I think I would like to jump in on this trend as well, so look for more info on that and of course you will be able to get it on iTunes! Also, let me know what you think about Ms Lara and I'll try to contact her and learn more about her - maybe she will come to NYC and crash a party here!

Kitten Couture Blurb in Indie Quarter

We love to support other blogs and of course we love those that love us back!! Kitten Couture received a little blurb from the friendly folks at Indie Quarter. They are known for supprting indie designers and letting others know about it. Definately love them and thanks so much for the blurb. In addition to the story about Kitten Couture, check out other great finds. They are a great resource for designers.

Jazz it Up, While Staying Relaxed!

While I was away in lovely Miami, I fell back in love with a top that I wasn't sure I would look fabulous in. Enter the halter! I believe the halter is a great piece that is flattering for a variety of body types. I am a slim girl that isn't exactly the bustiest one out there. Halters come in so many different styles that it's hard to decide which one is the best one. Enter my favorite shop, Pitaya. First, this is the one store from back home in Indiana that I miss (thankfully you can become a fan and visit their site online!). If you're from the area or went to the one that was in Bloomington, Indiana at Indiana University, you knew how exciting it was to see new merchandise every Tues morning. ANYWAY, Pitaya is reasonably priced (this top is $24!) and always has something that will keep you looking on the cusp of fashion. Generally each pieces comes in about 12 colors, although this was not the case for this top.

Regardless of whether you purchase this super cute top here or find another one at such stores as Bebe (which tend to be around $80) and of course you can purchase XOXO and Rampage and find cute selections as well. So, if you feel the need to wear something that feels casual while making an amazing impact, consider the halter which can be worn over a pair of jeans or paired with a cropped jacket.

Make it Natural

I am all about MySpace. For business or entertainment it's a great way to connected with others. A recent addition to my friend list that I am interested in seeing her official site when it's ready, is Typhaney B. Jewelry. I love that she is a crafty designer and from the collection that I have seen through her site on MySpace - it seems like it's a return to a natural approach to fashion. In fact she has dubbed it as 'Stone Couture', extremely natural while being stunning at the same time. Although I haven't been to Philly in awhile, this jewelry maven calls it home and many of her pieces can be found in upscale boutiques throughout the city. I know that this is a trend that we have been seeing a lot in a variety of stores from pieces in American Eagle (which I have noticed in various photoshoots lately) to those in department stores such as Lord and Taylors and Saks 5th Ave. Make sure to add some natural elements to jewelry. Not only will you have a variety of selections to choose from; moreover, you have more ways to showcase your signature style in a new way.

SoBe Love All Around!!!

There is something about a great vacation where you can't believe where all the time went, but you know you had the time of your life! That's how I'm thinking about South Beach right now. The days were relaxing and so were the nights. Most importantly, I obtained inspiration for Kitten Couture and hope you guys will enjoy what will be appearing on the site. It'll take a few days to get back into the swing of things, but don't worry you'll hear from me a lot!

Projects on the horizon that you guys will hear about over the next month include: designers/styles that I am in love with it (of course outside of my line because I truly feel that style emerges when you blend a lot of designers within your personal style to make something uniquely you), Kitten Couture of course (the line will be in Shecky's Girl's Night Out this fall and a variety of other events so you will want to know about that) and my new obsession the House! For those of you that don't know. I have a house that I am renovating that I will eventually live in. Surfice it to say that I bought a lot of magazines with me on my trip and half of them were about renovating, decorating and more. As a personal plus, I LOVE Domino. If you don't know about this magazine, regardless of whether you are renovating or simply looking to make a few decorating changes, this is the magazine. It's from the creator's of Lucky so it has the little stickers that help you in making decisions. They are labeled, 'gifts, decorating, renovating, etc'. Great format and tips and I am hooked. So you will see my entrance into interior design and how the project turns out. It just goes to show you how anyone can embark on something when they are driven to do so. And finally, I will be showcasing websites that I just love and believe that you should check out!

So, I am super excited about everything and being able to finally correspond with those that email me on my main site, Kitten Couture and my MySpace page, with the username Cocoabebe. So keep the comments coming in and if you want to exchange links, let me know!

Much Love for Tunics!

Hiya,

So the serious business of summer has begun. Yes we have just started Spring but I am going to Miami tomorrow. This means that there will be a bit of a hiatus on the postings (although I will be connected to my sidekick and I may be able to send something over the next few days. So as I did last minute errands, I thought about a lot of the items that we will all be wearing this season (even though a few of the pieces made a strong debut last summer) - the tunic. Now some people call them caftans but I love them. They can be dressed up, made to be casual and anything in between.

There are a few stores that are carrying some cute ones - but two in the city are my favorites. First, Banana Republic has a cute Moroccan style tunic in white with navy trim (including a belt) that is about $70. I would say that it is available at most locations and it can be worn with a pair of white pants, jeans, over a bathing suit etc. It has a great crisp look.

The second store is actually on St Marks off of 2nd Ave in a Ukranian store. These tunics are handmade and absolutely gorgeous. In addition, you can buy the trims that are from the Ukrain to further embellish your tunic (I suppose) or to add to something else that you have. Seeing that my boyfriend is of Ukranian descent, I was introduced to this store which has many great finds that are also handmade and has historical/cultural ties to the Ukraine. These tunics are in the $125 range (totally worth it) and although the bodies are white, the trims come in lilac, red, navy, yellow and more. Definately take the opportunity to visit Surma (it's right near Mc Sorley's [one of the oldest bars in NYC and known for having 2 beers at a time]).

So today's pick goes to 'Lotta Stenson's' seafoam silver-sequined Indian Kurta, which can be found on iShop Blush.com. Although I don't have a tunic like this today, I love the style and you can get it for under $50 (which is a steal compared to its original price at $163. I will definately look for great looks that people are sporting in Miami and have them for you guys later on this week OR when I come back next week. Have a great week guys and if you have fashion questions let me know - I'm here to help you out!

Much Love

What Have We Been Up To?

Hiya,

I am on MySpace (and that means actively working on putting items up there and sharing some thoughts. I am going to try and streamline all my blogs to this site. But you may have to go back and forth between the two. So, to get started - I officially completed my season with the Metro Stars as a cheerleader (although they are now Red Bull NY). That answers that lingering question that I was sent. In addition, I took up a position as a Visual Merchandising Manager at Abercrombie & Fitch on 5th Ave since the last time that I posted. It's a lot of fun and I have learned a lot since I have been there.

Also I started focusing a lot on Kitten Couture which will have a fashion show during Fashion Week and I have started preparing the third season of Kitten Lounge. This season it's all my faves - Electonica and Jazz music with musings about fashion! So I am always looking for submissions and I have plans to podcast this Internet show as well.

I am trying to think of the appropriate direction for this blog. I want to talk about the day to day of fashion and also how I am taking everything else. I think that the most important thing that people like to know is how do you go about doing what you do, what resources did you utilize and how do you feel. There are a lot of books on how to do something in theory but anyone starting a new venture knows that there is a huge gap between how we would like to start out and how we actually do!

I'm in a period of organizing and getting siked about everything that I am working on so I will let you know! Right now I am organizing the Fashion Show which is slated for Fashion Week this Sept on the 19th. I am in the process of getting sponsors. It's interesting, you know that you need to get money to put an event on and you also want product for goodie bags so your guests have something to take with them, but finding what about your event makes it lucrative to a company is always interesting. So, after creating a press release and my sponsor request - I will have these distributed via mail (most people don't want requests sent via email).

Who did I ask? Well, I took products and companies that I enjoy using and that I believe would be interested in my business. Seeing that I operate within resort wear - I like to pick beauty products, healthy items, those within the travel industry and luxury products. I believe that the same people that love these products would love mine and that these companies can present themselves in front of the same demographic while obtaining fringe markets that they may not have been able to reach. We'll see how it goes! You can also see my progress at http://www.sikara.com/shows.html which will be updated as new people sign on.

Temps are Rising

Nothing is better then the first day of flip flop season and when you can shed your coat for items that are much lighter than what we've been sporting as of late! So yesterday, for all the soccer fans, we had our second game which was another draw. But it was warmer and sunnier (not to say that there wasn't a chill running through us - but no complaints in comparisson to last game). I was able to walk to congressman (please don't ask me who) with a fellow Metro Girl to kick the first ball. It was a lot of fun and we could see ourselves on the HUGE screen. We even made a human tunnel for the players when they got on the field. I can say with all surety that our duties will be even more fun when the weather co-operates with our assigned agendas. I also must say that I love the fans. It is so much fun to sign autographs and see cute little girls and boys get super siked when we sign something for them. Especially those that have come to the last home games because it wasn't the warmest of weathers. I know that all of the team has been talking about how much they love hanging out in the fans stand cheering, learning more about everything and just being in this super charged environment. Outside of the world of sports --

I went to a very cool lounge this weekend, Libation with my boyfriend which was a lot of fun because we could casually sit, dance and just enjoy one another's company. It seemed like all week had been running from one casting call and design event to another. Once again not complaining because being busy is always good but you respect the times when you don't have to be! Also it helps that you can temporarily get away from it all with a day at the park, some yummie foods from a corner vendor (which seems to taste the best when it is warmer). I don't know if I added this in a previous post but, I have become the dating editor of Big Apple Style so people somehow have come to love my advice and now they will have another place to find it. As far as the line goes, we are still putting together a kick ass event for Fashion Week and trying to find the best venue for it. So if those of you are promoters let me know and I would love to hear your ideas. I believe that that's about it but I wanted to check in and say hello. For those in NYC and in NJ, we have a Friday game for the Metro Stars as Giant Stadium so that's on the 22nd and I hope that it will be super warm. I will be going to Vegas for a few days and will have to report back on that one for everyone. Also towards the end of this month, I hope to have great news of somewhere else that you can catch me as well :)

Much Love

Odds & Ends But The Love is Always There ....

Once again, I am promising that there will be more regularity to my blog! But today I have a lot of odds and ends that I wanted to share and without knowing where to beging first, I'm just grabbing whatever first comes to mind! First off, the Metro Stars kicked off their first game of the season on 04.02.05. Although it was super rainy and windy the Metro Girls had a great time meeting the fans and getting to know one another. It was amazing how much people embraced this new addition to the team and I am glad that I was able to be a part of it. Nothing was better then taking pictures with the fans and getting people to get to know more about us! So to my Metro Girls' sisters I give huge hugs and I can't wait to see you guys next game!!!

In additional news, Kitten by Sikara Designs Group just participated in a photoshoot that will be updated on the site very soon. This means that you will definitely see a variety of items on the site that were not there and launches our official spokesmodel of the line as well. As we get closer to Fashion Week, you will see a lot more info in relation to where the show will be in NYC and how you can become a part of it. This is going to be a lot of fun since the line will have been out for a year, I will be celebrating my birthday and of course new pieces of the line will be revealed - concluding in a fun after party where we can all just kick back after all the hard work has been done.

As you know I have my own radio show, but I also have signed on to Big Apple Style.net to write about relationships and other material that surrounds this issue. I think you guys will want to check it out but you should still check in here every so often so that you can hear random thoughts that may not make it on to the site. If you are not familiar with this site - it is the guide of NYC. From having reviews on restaurants and lounges, there are also interviews from a variety of artists and actors. In addition, it is all about fashion which is definitely why I have been a reader for the past year. To be asked to bring my know how to this site is an honor and I look forward to sharing my experiences and knowledge with you guys and of course making sure to bring in elements involving fashion and entertainment as well.

Outside of this what else? Today's weather was absolutely amazing! It was 70 some degrees and I was actually able to open my windows and feel cool breezes. It seems like just yesterday that I had to bundle up in way too many layers of clothing. I know we are not completely out of the woods but this was something that made me remember why I love the city when it's warm.

For all of those out there that are models - this week seems like a huge week for casting for shows at MTV and VH1 so kudos to those that are trying to get on these shows. I know that I have been asked to attend some castings and will be a part of some audience scenes as well which is equally as exciting.

How could I forget?? In addition to soccer starting - baseball is here. This is one of my favorite sports so I am definitely pleased about this. Already I have had friends play hookie from work and school to go to the games and how you can blame them - great weather, hotdogs and Derek Jeter hehe. Well, this was just me catching up on what's going on with me and what I know people are doing in general. I am apartment hunting again so I am definitely moving at the end of the year and I am in the middle of planning my vacation to the Bahamas so any suggestions on must see places - feel free to leave them here :). Much Love to everyone and I'll be on here more frequently letting you guys know what's going on with me. For those in NYC check out this club that I have been a member of for like a year but am going to my first event this month. It's called the Lunch Club.net. People get together with the same interests and go to lunch, special activities, etc and it's a way to expand your network of friends while being with people that share your interests. I have always thought that it was a cool idea but I never had the time and I was a bit nervous to walk in completely cold but in an effort to throw myself into new environments and to be comfortable with it, I will be venturing out so we shall see what I think about this. I think it will be fun. I love meeting people and going to new places so this is going to be a nice change.

Much Love

Do You Love Soccer?

Do you love soccer? I have always liked it but now I must say that I LOVE it. Maybe it's purely selfish but, I just became a Metro Girl which is the cheerleading counterpart to Major League Soccer's - NY Metro Stars that plays at Giant Stadium. I am super excited to be joining the 10 other girls on the team and cheering and meeting fans throughout the 2005 season!

On Mon, as a part of our official duties, we were introduced during 'Media Day' and were able to meet a variety of newspapers throughout the state of NJ and NY. I couldn't believe how crazy it was! Not only was this my first experience at being in front of cameras on that level, I didn't realize how full of press, execs and the team would make BB Kings when we were presented on stage. Our first game is on the 2nd of April at our home owner and I can't wait to meet you guys and learn much more about the game!

My First Time ...

I thought I would check in with everyone and say how I siked I was in regards to my very first Fashion Week experience! Today I saw Christos' new line of waist jewelry! Of course we think about adorning our necks but how about making some pizzaz for our waists as well. Many of these items had amazing embellishments, fur and much more. Definitely something that was unique. In addition to the pieces, the girls chosen to wear these items were as radiant as the pieces. When I have all the pics, I will post some on the site and let you guys check it out for yourselves.

This was the first of many collaborations between Kitten and Big Apple Style. It was interesting when we took pictures at Bryant Park - how other photographers came by to see who we were and what we were up to! So of course she explained that she was the Editor of her magazine and that I was the founder and designer of Kitten and of course people thought that we were twins; however, they had to be satisfied with the fact that we are only sisters.

Just being there definitely got me thinking about September's Fashion Week and elements of the new line that will be introduced for Spring/Summer 2006. I am also beginning to have an open call for models for future shows, photoshoots and much more so definitely feel free to email me in regards to what you would like to do. If you want to hang out in person, come to the Big Six on Friday nights - 8:00 - 11:00pm on 97 Bowery! Not only is there great music and our friendly bartender Hara but you will be able to network with many people that are looking to meet other people in the city while also getting a chance to get to know me as well.

I can't believe how fast this month is going but we are that much closer to the summer which is always fine by me!

Much Love

Spreadin' the Love

I am super siked about recent developments with Kitten! The prototypes look great with a lot of the designs that will be released this spring/summer. I promised some pics but they can't be released just yet but know that they are hot and you will definitely want to snatch them up!

On the personal front, can you believe that it is almost Valentine's Day? It seems like the year is already zipping by and we have barely begun. I love this time of year - right now it's not too chilly, the magazines are already showing summer sneak peaks and you don't mind leaving your house to go out and about. I am setting up this year's Valentine's extravaganza for my boyfriend and I and am still deciding between the details. If anyone can help me in regards to awesome spas or restaurants in NYC, it would be much appreciated.

Feel free to stop by and say hello whether you are coming from Blogger or whether you are coming from my site at Sikara. Also, does anyone know how we can create a link page on this site??? I would love to add links of my favorite blogs or something of that nature. As promised, I am going to make more of an effort to write more - it could be purely random or it could be something that's really interesting. For those of you out there that love good reading, I have a great site that I would love to tell you about so once I figure out the links I will make that list available so you guys can read this amazing online novel!!

Much Love

New Effort ....

Ok,

So I am definitely making a new effort to write more frequently within this. It helps since I have a lot more going on and I welcome any comments that you guys may have out there. So the first huge thing is for those of you that may not be aware, I launched my fashion line Kitten, 'resort inspired activewear embellished with Swarovski Crystals for those who wish to run errands, brunch with the girls and to go out on a night on the town'. I did this in a big way by producing and hosting the Kitten & Co Fashion Show and Kitten After Party on 09.14.04 @ Azaza during Fashion Week in NYC. It was amazing to see people from all over the music industry attending the event and spreading the love!

The thing about doing a major event is that after all the planning you feel like at the conclusion you are at a loss for what to do next. I followed up my event with a breast cancer event 'Fight for Pink' @ Mission in Oct, that showcased my line and had amazing musical talent from Universal Records (and yes I organized this event as well).

So this kind of brings me to currently what I am up to ... Kitten will be featured in the 'Fete de L'Amour' Fashion Show at Monmouth University in NJ later on this month. This is awesome because I will be showing Kitten with many new items such as the Diva Collection and also handbags which is something very new for me.

In March I will be providing a set entitled 'Adored by Kitten' for the Israel Humanitarian Foundation which is a Spring Fashion Show that will be held at Avalon in NYC! My items will share the same space as Isaac Mizrahi, Marc Jacobs and more on the runway which is very big for an indie designer!

Of course as my news continues to grow, I have signed on for a Fashion Trunk Show in Philly in May that will allow me to increase my base outside of the city! Once again huge and I'm super siked about this. So that's the new info regarding Kitten.

Over the past few months, people wondered where they could hang out with me and now I have a home of sorts at the Big Six every Fri night from 8:00pm - 11:00pm on 97 Bowery. This is intended as a networking event for those that wish to meet other people in the city and since I am the hostess, I encourage people that are models, designers and photographers and more to come out because it's a great way to meet others in your industry. Also, I am in the process of organizing my photo shoot for new items coming out and although I love posting on Craigslist, I would love to meet you guys in person to put the name, face and personality together. Speaking of that, I did obtain a spokesmodel for 2005, Dorian a fellow model and singer/songwriter who will be in Lucky Magazine later this year and a lot of you will get to know her as well.

On the personal front, I am still modeling here and there and have done some TV stuff which was fun and as the months go on, I can't wait to let you in on somethings that are in the works. Until then, I encourage you guys to continue to visit my site, sign up for the newsletters and I just obtained a new address book online which I think will be really nice to keep info for those designers and models that are interested! If you have a question, let me know and send some love my way too.

Much Love

One More Thing!!!

There will be pics within the next blogs which I'm siked about so don't fret about not seeing anything on my blog just yet. I thought I would add that as a side note.

Finally, the Kitten Lounge started its new season so you will hear the best of alternative rock, r&b and much much more. We will be covering a lot of great bands and attending the venues - you can also check out various shows that are in the NYC area by visiting the main website. As you know, the Kitten Lounge merges the best in fashion and entertainment. Make sure you check out first Wed's to hear from our contributing Style Guru, Dori, from Big Apple Style. In March, she will be recapping on her experiences during Feb's Fashion Week and other information.

Much Love,

Kimmie
